NOT FOR PROFIT:
John the Baptist Artworks sends all profits beyond operating expenses to missions and charities.
A portion of your artwork purchase goes directly into helping some of the neediest people on earth, giving them a better quality life and hope for their future. Please check out the websites of the various ministries and organisations we donate to on the Links page. I am so thankful for every sale we receive, no matter how large or small, for it is that much more we together are pouring out to those who need it the most.
PRIORITY:
My highest priority is that people may be encouraged through my artwork. For this reason, I will do whatever I can for clients, within reason, to get the desired piece of artwork into their hands.
ORIGINALS:
Certain originals are available for sale. When you click on the thumbnails of artwork in the gallery, it will enlarge the image and list the status of the availability of the original nearby.
Archival quality prints of most original pieces of artwork are also available. Please see information below on how to order prints.
PRINTS:
High quality, archival quality, acid free print reproductions are also available.
"Archival Quality" means that if the prints are properly cared for, they should be able to last a lifetime and possibly beyond.
To extend the life of your print, frame it under UV filtering glass or perspex, ensure all framing materials are acid free and keep prints out of bright and direct sunlight.
Prints can be ordered in any size you like. (*Prints are not produced from the photos on this website. Print photos are of a much higher quality.)
The price of a print is mostly determined by its area in square centimetres. Rough estimates for various sized prints are listed below. Please inquire about an exact quote because not all images come in the proportional dimensions listed below.
Print refers to an archival quality, acid free print. A Matted Print is when the print has been mounted with an acid free matboard "frame" (usually white, cream or black and about 5-8 cm (2"-3") in width) and has been given an acid free foam core backing. Matted prints only require glass and the frame to complete the framing process. A Framed Print is a print that has been matted and completely framed with glare-reduction perspex for safe shipping.
You can also choose to have a print done on canvas rather than acid free paper. Prints on canvas are a little more than twice the price of a regular print at the same size. Prints on canvas do not need to be matted, neither do they need to be put under glass or perspex to be framed; therefore, framing costs for prints on canvas will be cheaper than those listed below.
*Final prices are calculated on the Australian dollar. The US dollar has been in such a state of fluctuation in recent years that the US dollar estimates in this website may no longer be accurate. Please refer to the current exchange rate to determine the US dollar value.

Modern printing technology is making "limited editions" and numbered prints obsolete. I neither limit nor number my prints; however, I do sign them.
FRAMING:
I can frame all drawings and prints under 81cm x 81cm (32" x 32"). I use all high quality acid-free framing materials. My framing charges generally run slightly lower than professional framers.
I can frame paintings of any size.
SHIPPING COSTS:
We can ship artwork anywhere in the world. Please ask for a personal quote.
In Australia:
Originals or prints shipped (in a tube) to anywhere in Australia generally cost between $4-$6 AUD. Shipping multiple prints in a tube to anywhere in Australia also usually costs between$4-$6 AUD and usually no more than $7-$12 AUD maximum depending on size and weight.
Matted prints shipped anywhere in Australia generally cost between $10-15 AUD, but can easily be more or less depending on size and quantity.
Shipping framed work anywhere in Australia varies drastically. Please ask for a quote.
Outside Australia:
Originals or prints shipped (in a tube) to anywhere in the world generally costs between $10-$20 AUD ($9-$18 USD) depending on how far away the destination is from Australia as well as the size and weight of the tube. Shipping multiple prints in a tube to anywhere in the world also usually costs between $10-$20 AUD ($9-$18 USD) and usually no more than $25-$35 AUD ($20-$30 USD) maximum depending on size and weight.
It is recommended that all artwork be shipped overseas in a tube, as this is, by far, the cheapest option. Original artwork that has been framed in Australia can be removed from its frame, shipped overseas in a tube and re-framed at its destination. (Prices of "Framed Original Artwork" that have been removed from their frames will be re-priced accordingly). Re-framing is a cheaper option than shipping a framed piece of artwork. It also avoids Customs fees and hassles on importing wood.
Please ask for a quote for shipping a matted or framed print overseas.
HOW TO DRASTICALLY REDUCE SHIPPING COSTS:
Shipping prints or original artwork in a tube is the cheapest and recommended option, especially for overseas customers.
Original artwork that has been framed in Tasmania can be removed from its frame, shipped in a tube and re-framed at its destination. This is, by far, a lot cheaper than shipping a framed piece of artwork.
Paintings that have had their frames and stretcher strips removed for shipping will need to be re-stretched (and re-framed if the customer desires a frame).
The careful, average handyman should be able to re-stretch the painting for around $15 AUD ($13 USD) worth of materials. Re-stretching a canvas can be a little bit tricky for the inexperienced; however, careful re-stretching instructions with troubleshooting tips are available.
The likeliness of damaging the painting during re-stretching is minimal provided the handyman is careful and uses common sense. Alternatively, some fine artists may be able to re-stretch the painting for you. However, he or she will generally charge a substantial fee.
GREETING CARDS:
Many of the most popular pieces of artwork are available in the form of small greeting cards (that fit within size C6 envelopes). Each card is printed with wax ink, comes with an envelope and is protected within a plastic sleeve. The prices are as follows (not inclusive of shipping):
$2.50 AUD ($2.25 USD) each for a card and a C6 envelope fitted in a plastic sleeve.
$2.00 AUD ($1.75 USD) each for a card and a C6 envelope (with no plastic sleeve).
$1.50 AUD ($1.35 USD) each for a card (with no envelope or plastic sleeve).
COMMISSIONS:
I work on commission in a variety of different media, styles and subject matter including portraits and landscapes. I regularly work from photos, especially in portraiture. If you would like to see a creative idea of yours birthed visually, the more detailed description with which you can provide me, the more accurately I can represent it for you in the artwork.
PAYMENT:
Payment must be received in full before any prints are ordered or artwork is shipped. Payment can be in cash, personal cheque, a bank or money order or a wire transfer.
Upon agreement to commission original artwork, I require a 30% non-refundable down payment up to a maximum of $1000 AUD ($900 USD). This covers the cost of labour and materials in the event the client changes his or her mind.
PAYMENT PLANS:
Payment plans (negotiable on an individual basis) are available for those who may need them, especially when purchasing more expensive works. No interest is charged.
